Hi, I'm Ashley Kennedy and welcome to Documentary Editing with Avid Media Composer. In this project based course we'll be exploring the entire post-production work flow for editing a short documentary about local farming in Santa Barbara, California. We'll start by getting a Creative Brief from our client and begin discussing story construction strategies and work flow considerations in order to start out right. One we have a plan we'll talk about how to properly set up an organizer project in order to deal with the multitude of media that typically comes with documentaries.

Including how we can best take advantage of the, ever valuable, interview transcripts in digital form. Then we'll discuss the process of creating the rough cut. Starting off by laying a solid audio foundation and then working to incorporate meaningful and creative visual material to flesh out our narrative. - [Voiceover] There's definitely a movement happening, it's not just here it's worldwide and it's a renaissance, so many people now are aware that getting it directly from the producer is the way to go. - [Voiceover] We'll then take a look at various documentary effects which you can use to correct and enhance in perfect video and audio.

Finally we'll explore how to conduct feedback sessions, make revisions and bring together the final elements in the process of finishing our documentary. We'll be covering all of these features plus other tools and techniques within Avid Media Composers Creative Environment.Now let's get started with Documentary Editing with Avid Media Composer.

Author Ashley Kennedy demonstrates documentary editing in a real-world project, breaking down the process into a series of manageable steps and milestones.
